UFO Weekend and Lancaster Quilt Show

Remember my packing up for UFO time at Peggy's Sewing center ---

Here I am pressing pieces.

My view - I had a whole table to myself! (This is Donna and her grand daughter)
On March 15th, AJ took me to Lancaster so I could take a long arm class and attend the quilt show. Overall, I had a wonderful day. AJ even went over to Central Market and bought us white cream filled Amish doughnuts -- my favorite!
You can see just a sliver of me waiting for my turn.
I was very disappointed with the class. The instructor was excellent. But, while she was giving her lecture, another woman was setting up all the handi quilter machines making a very loud distracting noise. We had to share machines, and because there were so many students, I got less than 2 minutes with the instructor. We each paid $30 for a kit on top of the class fee. There was no kit -- lesson learned!
I did manage to pick up some great stuff.

Fabric from Good's in Quarryville - a must stop in any trip to Lancaster

March Already

Stash report! Somehow no matter what I vow, I always manage to add stash. I think I have an addiction.
Some were on clearance
I had a snow day without the snow. The federal government closed down so our office was closed. The Eastern Shore only had a rain - a Nor'Easter.
It was hard to capture all the waves.
So...I worked on some projects
Binding on all four place mats

Trying to finish Barrett's bib

Worked on Steve's hat

Packed for Saturday's UFO

February is Gone

I managed to just about finish Barrett's quilt.
QIAD Trip Around the World using Thimbleberries Fabric
Hand Quilted
Embroidered
I finished knitting a headband for Mary Beth using left over yarn.

I am still knitting Anne Marie's scarf. I want her to be able to wrap it around a few times.

We took Scrappy to the vet. He was so traumatized from the visit, he spent the rest of the day snuggled to AJ.
His whole body is shaking.

February Progress

Here is what I have accomplished and purchased so far this month.

Totally organized what is here in front of the TV. Basket is now empty and upstairs!

Sized and laid out vintage log cabin blocks I pieced about 2 years ago
Pieced another row on AJ's Ravens quilt

Started a mistake rib scarf for Anne Marie (I finished her mitts but forgot to take a picture)
So last weekend I was home alone with Scrappy. I went to Easton on Saturday and got pretzels, red beet eggs, and a white cream filled donut at the Amish market. I dropped in JoAnn's and treated myself with a magazine and $2/yd fabric.

I stopped in Lilies of the Field and found Thimbleberries fabric on the clearance rack for $1.99/yd. I bought what was left on the bolt.
Sunday, I went to the knit along at the Island Yarn Boutique. I worked on Anne Marie's scarf. This yarn came home with me.
The two alpaca skeins were on sale.
So Monday, I am piecing at the kitchen table and I notice a bird going in and out of one of the houses. Do you notice the big hole. Some animal clawed the house trying to get in. I wanted to take the house down because it is so gross looking. I guess I will have to wait until the end of summer now.

February's Report

I can't believe how much of February has slipped away! AJ was away for Super Bowl weekend and I worked up a sweat quilting and knitting. I dragged out UFOs.

Christmas quilt that needs borders and table runner that needs to be put together
Still working on organizing. Binding is on Barrett' s quilt
Even worked on organizing my yarn
Managed to get 4 table runners ready to quilt
Pieced together some of AJ's Ravens quilt
Finished Anne Marie's hat and boot cuffs
Things to do for February:
1. I have the binding on Barrett's quilt and hand sewn. I need to embroider (by hand) my initials and year -- and fix some boo boos
2. Work on fingerless mitts and scarf for Anne Marie - one mitt done
3. Quilt all 4 table runners
4. Do the place mats on my Avante!!!

End of the Month Report - Quilt Retreat & Knit Along

Sale Stash
On the Sunday before my quilt retreat, I went to my first knit along at the Island Yarn Boutique. I had a wonderful time and bought some great yarn to add to my stash.

From my trip to the ocean
On the Saturday before my quilt retreat, I went to Sea Needles in Bethany beach and treated myself to a cross stitch kit and a yarn to make a short row scarf. Also, I stopped in the Serendipity quilt shop in Dagsboro to purchase a unique log cabin kit in flannels.

All fat quarters except for border and sashing

Here is what happened at the quilt retreat. It took place at the Holiday Inn on Kent Island.

Made all my blocks for the Ravens quilt

Sat across from Loretta who along with Bonnie designed the quilt on display

Finished the middle of this Trip Around the World quilt made from 2004 left over flannel

Won the grand prize for wearing purple Ravens socks

Went to Peggy's and picked out a few treats to add to my quilting stash

I made the binding for Barrett's quilt - just need to attach it.

Finished cutting my Trip Around the World quilt using a Thimbleberries pattern. It is packed up and ready to go to retreat this weekend. In addition, I went through several old magazines and copied the patterns I wanted. They are ready to be given away.
