SCRAPPY!!

I have to tell this funny story about Scrappy. He is the ugliest, crustiest, disguting mutt around and I so love him.
Last night, after I came home, I went up to our bedroom. There was Scrappy with an empty bag of cough drops he had torn open and eaten. I found empty wrappers on the floor and outside.
Scrappy was on a sugar high! He tore around the house, jumped up and down, raced in out the doggie door, and tried to kiss me.
Later, after we went to bed and turned off the light, Scrappy crunched on another cough drop. He must have had one squirreled away.

Tuesday After Christmas

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. So much has happened. The office move is over. Christmas is over. Everything is quiet now. I am reflecting on my New Year's resolutions. I started to reorganize my stash and I am humbled. I am talking about my projects other than quilting! I so wish I had the time to work on them. I think I should seriously consider not purchasing anymore! Even at the thrift stores!

Thanksgiving Holiday with Black Friday

It was soooo nice having a 4 day weekend.
Thanksgiving day was spent cleaning ( I am still organizing all my quilting and other stash stuff like yarn). I made oyster stew and salad for our holiday dinner. Eggnog ice cream made a great dessert. I gave Scrappy and Lily peanutbutter frosty paws. Lily ate the whole thing - paper and all. Scrappy took a few licks and decided it was d-o-g ice cream and waited by his bowl for the real stuff.
Up at 3 am for Black Friday. What fun. Went to the outlets, WalMart in Camden, Delaware, JoAnn's & Toys-R-Us in Dover. Ended up at Dover Downs playing Texas Tea and Double Dragons. Only lost 79 cents. Saturday I made the thrift store rounds. My best buys: 25 cents for Ken Follet's "World Without End" and $2 & $4 Christmas wreaths that originally came from the Country Peddler.
Sunday was spent doing more cleaning and some quilting. Watched some of the Ravens game and 60 minutes.

Monday

What a weekend and what a Monday. The past weekend was very tiring. I had my hair done :) , went around to two thrift stores and one consignment shop. I bought a beautiful antique embroidery stand, a Dept 56 christmas tree, a Lion Brand knit thing, and bunches of books. I spent the remainder of the weekend cleaning, doing laundry, and sneaking in a little quilting. I so want to finish organizing all my stash. I have a plan, but I think I will run out of room.
Sunday, I made a big pot of chicken noodle soup for dinner. I whipped up some gingerbread cake that AJ and I had with eggnog ice cream. Still have lots of left overs - yippee!
This morning, AJ and I took Scrappy to the vets. It is the most dreaded chore we do. I tricked Scrappy by wrapping him in his quilt and carrying him to the car. Of course he cried all the way to there, lifted his leg to christen the counter, had to be muzzled, and put on quite the show. I must admit AJ is very good putting on the muzzle. Hopefully, we will not have to take him again for another year.

This weekend just got better

Oops! AJ is going to the game Sunday - home alone - I can't wait. Maybe, I will get that Christmas wallhanging ready to quilt.

Friday at last

I wore my red plaid wool jacket from the farm this morning. I still miss the place and even the snow. I don't miss all the hard work, lack of money, or the very sad and lonely times I spent there.
Speaking of snow, AJ has called me twice this morning to say it snowing hard over on the Eastern Shore. I have not seen one snow drop in Washington, DC.
I can't wait to go home and enjoy the weekend. Saturday, I am getting my hair done. I have been flip flopping on whether to get it cut and what style. I plan to visit the thrift stores and consignment shops and Country Peddler. I want to swing by to see if the yarn shop has opened.
I need to wash the new windows and put back all my quilting. That will be a chore. I want to make a crock pot dinner for Sunday. Of course, AJ will be on the sofa watching all the games. Ravens play the Eagles - let's go Flacco. I really need to get his jersey!
I plan to hit the quilting and get my Christmas table runners finished. I need to spend some time on the last Christmas afghan I am knitting. I can do that while watching TV at night. Also, I need to start decorationg the house for Christmas.
I am tired just thinking about all this stuff.
I hope everyone has a fun weekend!

At the ocean

Saturday was a perfect day. We drove down to the ocean.
I must admit, it was tough getting out of bed. A thunderstorm rolled through around 2:30 am. Of course, Lily was scared so we were up until everything calmed down. I was already awake since my shoulder was in pain again.
Anyways, despite a slow and rainy start, we arrived at Jimmy's for breakfast around 8:00 am. Let me tell you, the mini breakfast is not that "mini". Next was Lowes to buy my lighthouse bird feeder and then to the outlets where we shopped until we dropped. I was surprised at how crowded the stores were. AJ drove me to Rehoboth. The yarn store is not there anymore! Oh well, saved me from adding to my yarn stash. We parked and walked down to the beach. Did I mention that it was sunny and 70. Then we just had to have Thrasher fries! (Brian, it will be opened at Christmas.) Just as good, we each enjoyed a Kohr's vanilla & chocolate twister ice cream cone. Such a good and wholesome lunch.
The quilt shop at Lewes was calling and we drove over. AJ stayed in the car and snoozed while I purchased some sale fabric. I so want a flannel quilt kit they have!!! I restrained myself. Well, actually there are 2 0r 3 more kits I am coveting.
Even though we were so worn out, AJ drove down mainstreet and I bought flavored coffees in the little bakery. We drank them over at the canal so we could look at the boats.
The ride home proved to be longer than usual with dinner at Jimmy's and a stop at Roses. While I was in the store, AJ called my cell phone to inform me that it was pouring down rain, and he would be at the curb to pick me up.
Pitch black and raining hard and still AJ insisted there was a Hess gas station in Easton - not! But we tried to find it.
I emptied the car when we got home and crawled into be exhausted and completely happy. I love the ocean.

Mary Beth and Steve

I was looking through my pictures and saw this one of my daughter and son-in-law. I just had to include it. Can you tell they live in Texas?

Going to the ocean

I am so excited. I created my own blog!
I can not wait for tomorrow to come. AJ is driving me to the ocean. We are going to have breakfast and dinner at Jimmy's, go shopping at the outlets, stop at the yarn shop in Rehoboth on the way to buy Thrasher fries at the boardwalk, and then over Lewes to visit the quilt shop.
To me - it is the perfect day.
